FINDING INFORMATION IN THE HELP SYSTEM
There are three ways to find information in the help system:
-- Use the Search button to search for keywords in the complete help
index. As you type the keyword in the keyword field, the look-ahead
feature jumps to the nearest keyword or phrase in the index. If the
keyword is not listed, the closest available topic is displayed.
-- Enter words in the Keyword field at the top of the help window to jump
to the nearest topic containing the keyword. To go to the keyword topic,
press Return. Help searches both hypertext and index entries within the
current topic for the keyword.
-- The Global Find command searches for all occurrences of a text string
in Director online help, not just keywords. To find a text string, select
Global Find from the Find menu or press Command-F and type the text
string in the dialog box. Click Find or press Return to start the search. If
the text string is found, it will be highlighted.
Select Global Find Again or press Command-G to find the next instance
of the text string.
**Paint window dotted line button**
The button showing a dotted line does not create a dotted line; it
indicates an invisible border. If you draw a filled shape with the dotted
line selected, there won't be a border. For unfilled objects, it draws a one-
pixel line.
**Numeric keypad shortcuts**
The numeric keypad shortcuts only work when Num Lock is off. When
it's on, the keypad enters numbers.
To turn number lock on or off, press Shift-Clear.
**Using IMA-compressed sounds**
IMA-compressed AIFF sounds and QuickTime soundtracks that have
been IMA-compressed work only as linked external files. If you try to
import IMA-compressed sounds without selecting the Linked checkbox
in the Import dialog box, the import does not work.
COMPATIBILITY ISSUES
**Adobe Type Reunion**
Adobe Type Reunion features do not work in Director.
**Scantastic**
Director 5 is not compatible with Scantastic Access, a system extension
that ships with the scanning application Scantastic.
